Happy New Year

The first order of business is a prayer for peace for the coming year, especially for places such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Colombia, and countries in Africa, but even right down to our own neighborhoods.

After all the hustle and bustle of the past weeks Marcia and I are spending the New Year quietly at home starting immediately after we enjoy an early New Years Eve concert by our symphony orchestra at our historic Music Hall. We’ve done these in the past and they have always been a wonderful start to the evening.

As a surprise to Marcia and a bonus for the evening – I do think she’ll love it – I am putting Monty Python Live! on the DVD player. Two of their classics will fit the bill; Monty Python’s Live at the Hollywood Bowl, and Monty Python’s Fliegender Zirkus. Actually, truth be told, I am all prepared to hear her suggest something such as: “wouldn’t you prefer to watch Chocolat for the fourth time?” Yea right!

For those who are also staying home and are possibly feeling a bit left out I have an absolutely perfect solution. First, go to the top of this page and click on the audio link for a listen to Auld Lang Syne. Next scroll to the very bottom of the page and click on the ‘Week’s Best’ button, this will open up a new page on which you can draw away to your heart’s content while you pretend you’re Picasso. Go ahead and mail me your best work.

May 2004 be a wonderful year for you and your loved ones.

Cheers,

Dirk
