Morning all:

Quotes Of The Week: Thanksgiving edition

“Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.” — Oscar Wilde

and

“On Thanksgiving Day all over America, families sit down to dinner at the same moment—halftime.”– Unknown

and—most importantly

“I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new.”– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Amazing. Even though I just love the buzz of having people around me, it is these morning moments, quiet and my hot coffee at hand, which are the best. Just one thing more, out of oh-so many, to give thanks for.

Our company holiday celebration in Columbus was wonderful. I have to say that our gang does it right, totally unlike what the poor folk in this video of a Bank of America employee meeting were exposed to. The meeting was supposed to tout their absorbsion of MBNA. (The following explanation is for Marcia’s benefit so she won’t think I just sit around looking for wacko stuff) For years my Master Card was held by MBNA bank. Recently Bank of America bought them and I decided to go on line to see what changes I was in for, that is when I hit on the video of the corporate meeting from hell.

Many thanks to our friends Maryann & Jeff for opening their home to 15 friends and family to gather and celebrate over a spectacular dinner. Maryann, broken foot and all provided a prize-winning turkey. Marcia brought an over-the-top Honeybaked ham.

This morning, well after we ate it all, I read that Honeybaked had a recall of 47,000 hams—ours was excluded; I am certain this was by design.

Last night our whole gang ended up downtown for the Light up Cincinnati celebration. Adrianne, on her blog, has great photos of the day. What interested little Marin most, aside from the fireworks finale, was the way Santa dropped (literally) into town.

Talking about blogs—take a moment to look at Vince & Kirstin’s new contribution; welcome back guys.

Now we have to get the chores done so that we can make sure all is done prior to attending tonight’s Balluminaria made up of hot-air balloons tethered all around Eden Park’s mirror lake. Almost too much to do this weekend.

Make it a great week everyone; cause happiness wherever you go.

Cheers,
Dirk
