Morning all:
“Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.” — Winston Churchill
Morning from the world of ‘pop-up’ showers, sunshine, and the place where I do not have a clue as to where the coffee is stored—Ocoee, Florida
I know that the coffee is located somewhere but in a new house filled with box after box of freshly transferred boxes there is only one individual who has the overall knowledge, Kirstin. I think my morning brew will have to wait for a bit.
Rambling on this morning is the author and you’re reading some jottings from an ‘over-the-hill’ baby sitter who is having one fine time. The idea was simple. Kirstin and Vince just moved into their new home. Unpacking is a huge chore. Having Derek – age four, and Kellen – barely one, underfoot can slow the whole unpacking process by easily a factor of 10. Voila, hire in Opa (me) who comes cheap and is overflowing with enthusiasm and see how things work out.
I am having a blast.
The kids view the event as a party and as such cause me to collapse completely at night. Mom and dad collapse shortly after, but it is that little difference that makes all the difference getting the job done.
But, just maybe, the collapse came from the three adults celebrating the move with some Champagne in their new Jacuzzi the other evening. Who really knows?
I just heard the patter of little feet in the hallway and momentarily the bedroom door will pop open. It’s amazing how quickly I am relearning the fine art of diaper checking, toddler entertaining, story-book reading, and applying romper-room playtime.
Even more amazing is how helpful these little guys are if you just work with them a bit. And how absolutely loving they are to me – all quite humbling.
I should point out that I richly deserve forty-lashings with a wet noodle for not mentioning Kellen in last week’s birthday listing. Kellen turned one on July first, runs around as if he’s been doing it for years, is a hair shy of thirty pounds, makes a superb diamond with his fingers as we sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, and has a smile to die for.
Make it a great week everyone, pushing into ‘high-gear’ is only a few short minutes away. Now, aren’t you jealous you’re not here with me?
Cheers,
Dirk
