Saturday morning, a crazy busy week, more hub-bub today, and Marcia and I are busy with planning our migration north. But first some coffee – the Mr. Coffee machine just beeped that it’s ready.
More and more, as the seasons pass do I view our treks north to our Northern Comfort and back as migratory events: even though ours are just a poor replication of those managed by the birds and other animals:
“God loved the birds and invented trees. Man loved the birds and invented cages.” ~ Jacques Deval
It was Bill Jay who once mentioned that; “Ornithologists concluded that migratory birds take hundreds of naps as they fly; they also practice unilateral eye closure, in which one eye closes, thereby permitting half the brain to sleep.” If true I best not tell Marcia what I’m practicing on our journey north.
We’re planning to head up to Northern Comfort on May 23rd.
The corner of Chaos and Mayhem – had an air of calmness this week. The only piece of ‘unusualness’ was that the EMTs were called to a house over from our building where a 104-year old had fallen. The fact that they left after a few minutes tells me that the fall was no big deal. Well done 104-year old neighbor!
Season starts and endings – The grandkids are hard at work. Starting with the youngest, it’s Vili our second grader who is finishing the year completing projects in his Science Club and practicing soccer. Vai performed both in the choir and band (Clarinet) at the school’s Spring Concert. She will be performing later today in a city wide event at a large nearby church.
Dinah and Marin are counting the days till the end of the school year. Dinah will graduate from grade school on the 22nd and join brother Marin at Walnut Hills High School. Marin will be done with his three years of Latin; Whew!
Derek’s Marching Band had their big ‘reveal’ for this coming season; several pieces reflecting music with Interstellar themes. He was also informed that for math and science he will move into a class ‘cluster’ where he will be able to assist other students. Amazing! And not least is Kellen who is moving right along as he has come to grips with his new-normal after the devastating loss of Vince – proud of you. In fact, proud of all of you guys and gals.
Politics – are beginning to quickly turn into a fun-to-watch circus. I could resist, but let me focus on the top three – out of the seemingly pool of 80-some odd Presidential candidates.
First there is the new re-creation of Bernie Sanders who strikes as a Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) of ‘Back to the Future’ fame.
Then there are President Trump and Joe Biden. Down the road I can see their debates much like a Bob and Ray comedy sketch. Great fun with many a ‘huh, what’s that’ moment.
Finis – Shortly were expecting the resealing of our parking lot to start and I am the designated reception committee. Best get going.
Do well and make it a safe week.
Ciao
Dirk
